GPU dead after changing thermal paste

Hi all,

Just wanted to know if anyone else out there has experienced the same issue and whether they know a potential fix.

I just replace my thermal putty for the first time after 3-4 years of use. When booting the laptop back up armoury crate shows my gpu as extreme power savings, nvidia says I need to download drivers before doing anything on the app, and the device manager does still show the gpu but with an error 43.

Is this a driver issue or have I fucked up my gpu somehow?

The thermal paste did overflow a little and some of it went on the motherboard. I was told since it’s non conductive it shouldn’t be an issue but I’ve read conflicting opinions on the subject.

If you know anything about this please advise!!
