Is there any sort of way to change the latency compensation?

hey all, whenever i record audio thru my microphone, it is always a bit off, ive tried adjusting the playback tracking, etc but that does absolutely nothing. in other DAWs, theres a way to change the latency compensation for recording, but i cant find anything for this. changing the buffer size does not help, and the latency compensation option in the mixer is still off. Thanks!
