I have a stompa, how do I use it

Ok so my army consist of one mek, two painboys, one warboss, 4 20 ork boys, 10 nobs and a stompa, running green tide at the moment so I haven’t thought much on it, but how am I supposed to use my stompa? He hits on 5+ with his ranged stuff and people can decimate the poor lad before I get close enough to be in saw blade range, should I have have him Leroy Jenkins this shit or is there a way to maybe have him hit on the fabled 4+
