1986 Honda Aero 50 Still Won’t Start — No Compression the Issue?
Hey all, I’m following up on an older post about my 1986 Honda Aero 50 that I’ve been trying to get running again. It still won’t start, and I haven’t touched it since my last update, so I wanted to regroup and see what direction I should take next — especially wondering if a lack of compression might be the issue now.
Here’s everything I’ve done so far: • New spark plug • New battery • Cleaned the carb (thoroughly) • Replaced the fuel filter • Fresh gas • Replaced vacuum and fuel lines • Verified spark at the plug • Checked fuel delivery — carb bowl is getting fuel • Airbox is clean and reinstalled properly
I recently got a new float for the carb, but I haven’t installed it yet.
Next step I’m thinking is checking compression, since I feel like I’ve ruled out spark, fuel, and air. I don’t have a compression tester on hand, but I’ll grab one if people think it’s worth doing next.
Would a lack of compression explain the symptoms I’m seeing? Any other things I should try before I go down that route?
Appreciate the help as always — I’m determined to get this little thing running again.
