When people think others are faking their love of spicy foods.

Bit Annoyed

I swear, this is just a coping mechanism for those with a low spice tolerance. People with low spice tolerance believe that those who prefer spicy foods are doing it to be seen as tougher or because the pain sensation of spice is followed by serotonin (or something like that). I believe this is the case for some, but not the case for all.

Are we forgetting that peppers have a flavor besides the capascin, that could be enjoyable to others?

That's the main reason why I love spicy foods. It's because I love the taste of the peppers, not necessarily the spice. When I order a spicy version of a food (for example, spicy chicken sandwiches from Chick-fil-A), I don't find it spicy, I find it more flavorful compared to the original. If I drown something in hot sauce, it's not because I like the spice, it's that I find the original dish a little bland. We are not all adrenaline junkies or masochist! Some of us just like peppers despite the heat. I don't consider my spice tolerance to be that high either, but I'm not going to assume those who can handle more heat are just showing off.
