A Different Sizing Question

I'm wondering if I'm the elephant in the room when it comes to what size Birkenstock Arizonas I wear.

Initially, for my first pair of Birkenstock Arizonas, I really struggled with what size worked for me. 36 Wide were the perfect length but the width felt very loose for even my quite wide feet. Whereas 36 Narrow provided a nice fit widthways but for some reason the length seemed too short for my toes.

So, ultimately I wear 36 Wide for casual occasions where it's nice for my feet to have lots of freedom widthways and the length is good. Whereas I wear 37 Narrow when I want the width of my feet to feel more secure (not tight), the length is good and they look more petite, refined and dressy because overall they don't look like I've got duck feet.

I'm curious if that all sounds a bit weird or am I normal?
