Octonauts, why did you let me down?
I love the Octonauts. It's fun and entertaining, and the sea creatures they meet are generally presented with a realistic appearance (enough so that they can put up a photo of the actual creature without shame), and the behaviors that drive the episode plots are also pretty accurate.
So tell me... why is Tweak the rabbit mint green? The other animals are the proper colors. Why is she a non-rabbit color?
And Inkling is worse. He's supposed to be an octopus, but instead of having proper eyes on the sides of his head and a beak-like mouth underneath, they plunked a bear face on the front of his head. And this on a show about sea life. Shameful.
And the worst of all? The vegemals. Animal-vegetable hybrids like nothing that has ever walked the earth or swum the seas. They aren't even remotely necessary to the plot or the crew. All they seem to do in most episodes is to cook "fish biscuits", and I'm a little hesitant to wonder what that recipe looks like.
The creators of the Octonauts were so close. But then they added a green rabbit, an eight tentacled bear, and a sentient oceangoing root vegetable with a penchant for baking. My salty tears of disappointment could fill the seas until they were brimming over with sorrow. .
