Upgrading Factories. Best Practices.

Besides upgrading the Train, Feed Mill, Bakery, Dairy, Textile, Sugar... What's your preferred method to upgrading the remaining factories; do you upgrade each one fully before moving on to the next factory, do you upgrade each simultaneously to the same level or is there a different technique you use?
