CMV: You should be allowed to add whatever you want to your food. If someone steals it and gets hurt, that’s on them.
So, I was just told that if someone is stealing my food at the office, and I add ghost pepper to it and they eat it and have a heart attack, I will (and should) be charged with manslaughter.
After processing the shock of the injustice of this I decided to come here and ask if there’s any possible other side to this that I’m not seeing.
Because if I clearly label something as mine, that means if you’re not me, don’t touch. Even children understand that. Therefore, if you have an allergy or something and my food ends up containing that item, even if I knew you had an allergy, I can’t possibly be expected to prepare my food in anticipation of you helping yourself to it.
e.g. if you have a nut allergy, well, I’ve been known to eat pesto in my time. I can’t be held legally or ethically liable if you die in the process of stealing from me.
Or maybe I can. You decide!
