Installer Put in Wrong Unit, in Addition It Won’t Communicate with Trane Furnace
Hey all, looking for HVAC advice.
We had a 20+ year-old Trane A/C unit paired with a Trane 96 two-stage variable speed gas furnace. We were quoted for a Goodman 16 SEER inverter-driven A/C unit and a Daikin One Touch thermostat. (Went this route due to price)
After install, the thermostat threw a communication error, turns out a Goodman a/c unit won’t communicate with a Trane Furnace.
On top of that, they accidentally installed a Goodman inverter-driven heat pump (GSZS6) instead of the A/C-only unit.
Now the heat pump doesn’t talk to the Trane furnace. Installer admitted the mistake and offered a few maybe options(they are calling on Monday, after they all talk to each other, salesmen, installer, manager, etc):
1.Bring in a Goodman tech to try to force communication between the systems.
- Replace our Trane furnace with a compatible Goodman one (but Trane is higher quality right? and ours works great).
3.Replace the heat pump with a Trane A/C (or maybe Daikin, though that might still have comm issues?).
We’re in the PNW, west-facing windows, and want an efficient, well-matched system. Should I push to keep the Trane furnace and get the A/C unit we ordered? Or go with a full Goodman setup? Or maybe something else?
Appreciate any advice!
