Got a kid kicked out of the City Pool for calling me 'Special Ed'
AITAH for getting a kid kicked out of the City Pool for calling me 'Special Ed'?
To make it clear, by 'kid' I mean I think he was in his early teens? Tween? I don't know. Can't tell ages that well.
This was back when I was mid teens. One summer I frequently went to the City Pool when I was bored, since I don't have any friends. Whenever I went to the pool, I was always social and friendly, doing goofy stuff to try to make people laugh, but also knowing to leave people alone if they seemed like they didn't want to talk to me. I stayed in a segment of the pool, doing underwater handstands and the like, just keeping myself occupied and making sure to stay out of peoples way, when this kid and his friends swam over and stayed in the area. It's a public pool, so I was fine with moving.
The issue was, they moved when I was already underwater. So when I came back up, I accidently splashed them. Me being me, I apologized and tried to make a joke by being my goofy self. One of the kids asked me "Why are you so weird?" which caught me off guard since that is rarely blatantly asked of me. I was slightly offended because he said it in such a condescending way, but played it off by answering with a simple "Cuz I'm Special~" .
I went to move away after saying this, seeing as the kid clearly didn't want me talking to him, and was being rude. But then as I was leaving, the kid rolled his eyes, gave a smug smirk and said "Yeah, Special Ed."
Honestly, normally I would just brush something like this off and continue with my life. But I don't know if it was because of hormones or just the way he said it. Or a combination of both. But I straight up started fake sniffling (I can make myself actually cry sometimes by fake crying) and when I felt the tears well up in my eyes, I ran out of the pool to the girls locker room. I don't know what I was expecting from this, maybe an apology? But mostly assuming nothing would happen.
Imagine my surprise when a lifeguard came into the girls locker room and told me the kid was kicked out of the City Pool. I honestly felt a little satisfaction, I wont lie. Then just went back out to the pool and continued my day. So AITAH for getting a kid kicked out of the City Pool for the day, for calling me 'Special Ed'?
Sorry if the post is all over the place, this is my first time posting something.
