Uneven Curl Pattern in My Daughter’s Hair. Anyone Experienced This Before? Did Puberty Help?
My daughter is now 9y and used to have a full head of 3C curls when she was younger. But around the age of 5, most of it grew out and changed to a looser texture , except for two very specific areas. From the front of her hairline to just behind her ears (on both sides), she still has tight 3C curls. The rest of her hair is now more of a 2B wavy texture.
These tight curls haven’t loosened or grown out like the rest, they continue growing in the same 3C curl pattern. This contrast creates some real styling challenges. Hairstyles often end up looking odd on her, and people, both kids and even adults, comment on it, saying things like, “Wait, do you have curly and straight hair? That’s weird!” Even her hairdresser said she’s never seen anything like it before.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of mix of curl patterns in childhood? And if so, did puberty bring any kind of consistency ,like all curls or all waves/straight? I’m really hoping puberty will balance things out because right now, it’s very difficult to manage both practically and socially.
