6.5 months - Dynamics and running speed test
Hi all,
Just had a few people asking about dynamic movements, jumping etc and timelines. I mentioned I would add a post, but unfortunately it was raining today so I couldn't show maximum effort. I also modified my landing because slipping would... suck. I never do long slow distance running, so running isn't on my rehab path - although I'm free to do it. I thought I would test my top speed and I reached 16km/hr before I got scared and stopped. I could probably go faster.
Check out my previous posts at ~ 4.5 months and 6 months if you want to see previous activities.
Just answering a few things in advance that have come up.
- 44M. Open Surgery. 4 x Krackow sutures with a cross stitch (disolvable). Mid substance tear. Had surgery within 3 days.
- No special medication or anything.
- I have never deliberately stretched.
- I got out of the boot about week 10. Never went past neutral at all until 3 months, then only through active ROM activities.
- I was very fit (for my age) previously. I would train an hour a day, every day, for many decades.
- I can do 35x3 single leg calf raises on my good leg. 20x3 on my surgery leg at pretty much full height. Still a way to go to meet my good leg, but my PT is happy that will come in time.
- My knee to wall on good leg is ~ 10cm, bad leg is about 6cm or so. This is likely due to no deliberate stretching.
- I've got 100% heel height on both legs and look like I've had no or very limited lengthening.
- I'm back sparring and dislocated my thumb, you can see the brace on my hand :(
I think that's it. Hopefully for those that are interested in getting speed and jumping back can see where I'm at.
