which of the ff. schools/courses should i pick?
I passed all 7 of the schools i applied to. Here are my options (cut ADMU and my alma mater since i didn't like my course for ADMU):
University of the Philippines - Diliman: Passed, BA Speech Communication
- I'm neutral on this course.
- It definitely plays into my strengths as I used to compete in speech-related contests.
- However, I want a strong course that will guarantee me a good job that has a high salary.
Mapua University: Passed, BS Computer Engineering
- I like this school as well seeing as its Computer Engineering program is ABET-accredited.
- However, Mapua is expensive and the workload is rigorous. My mental health is fragile as is, so I don't know if it'll be worth the effort.
- I'm also the most intimidated by this school, seeing all the negative thoughts from students on Reddit.
Cavite State University: Passed, BS Computer Engineering
- Safest choice. – My grandma and mom prefer this one the most. – I wanted to go further than our province though.
Lyceum of the Philippines Cavite: Passed, BS Computer Engineering
- Beautiful campus; the school I wanted to go to for SHS.
- I reserved my slot for BS Computer Engineering here already.
- However, school prestige matters a lot to me and LPU-Cavite has a focus on tourism, so I don't really want to pursue LPU unless I have no other choice.
De La Salle University Dasmariñas: Passed, Bachelor of Multimedia Arts or BS Architecture
- My grandma prefers this school, but it recently lost its CHED autonomous status and many complain of its declining quality.
Philippine State College of Aeronautics: Passed, BS Aeronautical Engineering
- It's the top aviation school in my country and produces the most licensure exam passers for my chosen course.
- According to graduates online, many go unemployed even after acquiring their license and the aviation industry in the Philippines is weak.
- However, I'm not so sure about this course. I'm mildly intimidated by it.
- Also, aeronautical engineering is highly specialized and skills are not so easily transferrable between industries.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- We're middle class.
- I like the arts better, but I want to pursue either law or, and I prefer this option, engineering for practicality reasons. I like Computer Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering, respectively though I have more of a preference towards Computer Engineering.
- I hope to work abroad someday, so school rankings both in the country and globally would be a big plus.
- I also would prefer there to be really good campus life.
- At the same time, I want the campus itself and the surrounding area to be on the safer side.
