YA book with a girl who goes to “divorced families” camp with her dad

hi! looking for a YA book i read back in the early 2000s. i believe the title was something like “life as a teenager sucks”

i remember that a teenage girl goes to a sort of summer camp with her dad - the camp is for parents and kids of divorce. she meets another girl there who’s from california and is super bubbly and girly and they share these lollipops called “chula pops”. there’s a scene where they’re peeling potatoes for dinner, another scene when they go to a pilgrim rendition sort of town and her crush is acting as the blacksmith.
