Transferring to a new congregation
Hi all, I need some advice. To recap on my previous post: I (24NB) have been planning to move out of my parents' house since November of last year. My parents, especially my father, were very opposed to me moving for my job because that is a materialistic goal and not showing reliance on Jehovah. I do not have a connection with any of my non-JW family members due to my mum marking them as bad association, and I don't have any friends outside the borg.
I am finally moving out and boy oh boy, what a rocky ride it has been. But it's finally happening and I cannot be more ecstatic. I have my own flat literally on the opposite side of the country from where my parents live, but of course, JW land is a small world and a few family friends know people who live closeby. My father insisted on "helping" me move out, so we are all going to troop up to my new place and then go to the meeting on Tuesday in one of the local congregations.
I haven't moved congregations on my own before, so I don't know how to navigate this. I do not plan on going back to the meetings, like, ever, because fuck that. But with my father breathing down my neck, I expect that he will force me into an awkward with an elder and get me to transfer records or something ? I don't want to be put on the shepherding call list for going MIA literally the next week. Because my building requires a key fob access, having the JWs show up door-to-door won't happen, but one of my worst nightmares is to discover that a JW lives in my building.
Any advice would be appreciated !
