AIO - My roommate threw away a photo frame that meant a lot to me because it “clashed with the decor”?
I had this small photo frame on my desk — it held an old picture of me and my late uncle, who practically raised me. The frame itself was kind of quirky, with bright colors and little cartoon animals, but I’ve had it since I was a kid. It’s one of those things I keep around because it brings me comfort.
A few days ago, I noticed it was missing. When I asked my roommate, they admitted they tossed it during a “deep clean” because it “looked childish” and “ruined the minimalist vibe” of the apartment. I was honestly shocked. I told them that it wasn’t just decoration — it was a meaningful keepsake.
They brushed it off and said I was being dramatic over “a silly picture frame” and that I should be glad they’re putting effort into making the place look nice.
AIO for being really upset about this? I get that we live together, but throwing away someone else’s stuff — especially something sentimental — without asking feels like crossing a major boundary.
