Prednisone Not Working?

Looking for advice. Recently got thrown into a flare back in late May. Been pretty bad, went from 137lbs to 130 in 4 days. Balsalizide has been my go to since being diagnosed 4 years ago and was taking a canasa suppository for 2 weeks and stopped last saturday, it largely didn't do anything and I almost slipped back into anemic levels. To top it off I can't take it anymore now because it had adverse reaction.

Doctor prescribed pred on Tuesday and the day before that my wbc count and neutrophil count reset to normal. The pred seemed to be finishing the job. Stool finally bulked up, no blood no mucus. But then today as soon as I took the pred my guts were cramping. I seemingly avoided having to go until about not long ago and suddenly had the worst cramping of my life. It shoved almost everything out, I almost thought it was going to just shoot my intestine out. Shockingly it was still solid, but oh my god it sent me into a fit of panic.

Is this a fluke? I know pred can do the opposite and irritate the stomach, and I didn't space out taking it after eating some toast. Usually I wait 10 minutes, but I was in a rush today. Still no blood or mucus, but I'm supposed to taper starting tomorrow and now I'm terrified it'll somehow worsen. I'm not quite sure what I should do. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks
