I hate the self acceptance bs.
If someone accepts their hirsutism, amazing, but I really hate how this is pushed on me, especially from therapists. I realize they’re trying to get me to a place where it doesn’t bother me anymore, but that’s not going to happen, because I do not want it there. Simple as that. It is NOT “who I am” or “how I was made” it’s a medical condition. My hormone levels are abnormal. My health is at risk. I do not wish to accept something that is not only affecting my health, but making my body look abnormal compared to other women.
I’m seriously done with this ideology. People get nose jobs, boob jobs etc. but when it comes to hirsutism we have to accept it and love ourselves? It’s just a way to put the blame on us. No. My hormones are not functioning normally, and I would like a treatment to stop that. And as a result, resolve the hirsutism and other symptoms. “Someone won’t care if they really love you!” “Own it!” I’m tired of this. How about someone actually helps us and stops this shit? If you want us to be hairless so badly, help those of us who grow so much we can’t even remove it all. The same people telling me to accept this barely any body hair and the little amount of hair that they DO have, they remove. Give me a break.
The hypocrisy is insane. This isn’t a pimple or stretch marks, it’s something we’re told is disgusting and only associated with males. That women shouldn’t have ANY, and we have an abnormal amount. How can we be happy with our bodies when you’re telling us it’s revolting but also that we should accept it? Pick a side. When every woman walking in the streets is hairless and smooth, how am I supposed to feel? There’s absolutely zero women in my life who deal with this.
