Questions about Crystal Behemoth

So I need a Monster Crystal for my Alchemist quests, and I hear it comes from Crystal Behemoth in Treasure Groves. But what I read made it sound like a randomly spawning mini boss instead of a final floor boss. Is this true? And if so, can it also appear in Ginormosia at certain ranks? Just trying to figure out what I'm even looking for here.
