UBCO electives for first year

Im doing comp sci at ubco this year, I’m taking math physics and computer science first term and the other requirements the second term. I have no clue about electives, do first years have to take electives ? If yes or if you recommend it could I please get some suggestions. Does my schedule sound too heavy? I am trying to keep it all not too hard and in the mornings. Sorry for the long read but could someone PLEASE guide me here
