Advice wanted for next early career step!

I posted my CV on here in Feb and got some really valuable feedback so a big thanks to everyone who had a look. With that CV I've secured two vacation schemes at regional full-service firms for next month. I've also got two days of experienced lined up at a local firm.

I'm now back for more advice - thanks in advance!

I've been interviewing for paralegal roles. I don't know what practice area I want to work in. I've been thinking maybe employment law or IP but I need more experience.

However, I have been offered a position as a conveyancing paralegal. I also have a second interview for a family/private client paralegal position at another firm.

I'll be applying for VS/TCs in the coming cycle but know I might not get anything. So with all this in mind, I've got some questions for any former/current paralegals:

TLDR:

  • Will conveyancing be a impediment to VS/TC applications? Should I hold out for something more relevant?

  • Has anyone transitioned between practice areas and firm types as a paralegal (eg high street conveyancing to city commercial law)? What was your experience like?

  • What would be a good starting salary for an entry-level paralegal position outside of a city?
