How to handle the feeling of someone being more into you than you are?
Straight F here. Let’s say that i grew up as a shy, too anxious and ugly teen then had a ‘glow up’ now in my early twenties. Not simply in my looks but also my life and personality. I never had a high school boyfriend nor a kiss then I am also a total people pleaser, and i feel like most my dynamic with guys in the past was me the one crushing hard, getting heart broken. Except lately im getting more interest from guys in ways i never expected. And sometimes i feel like.. i dont know what to do with it. I’m not talking about pushy guys wanting sex, because i learnt to handle that by now, but genuine good guys who want something real with me.
Like recently i met a guy during a party and we made out a lot, everything seemed shiny in the beginningI didn’t even consider i’d be more than a hookup to him, but a week later he invites me to go out, sees that we vibe and starts getting really into me. i get to know him and lots of things change, he’s a good and sincere guy, he actually doesnt party too much and a friend that i saw dragged him there, he actually isnt experienced with women which explains how he act, doesnt speak the local language of the country we’re in while i do ( we both expats). He also got attached real fast, in less than a month. And i can clearly see it. While on my side, i like him to a certain degree, see potential but sometimes.. i just get the feeling i got dragged into something i didnt sign up for. As i got to know him, i discovered some things that i like about him, others that are much less but nothing deal breaker either. It’s just that my unexperienced ass actually is more experienced compared to him and im still considering us more rationally that sentimentally and not ruling out the possibility of letting him go if things dont work out. And while i think like that i get overwhelmed by some type of guilt and just wonder if i’m not stringing him along. Sometimes i think about dumping him because of the fact that im hesitant, and sometimes i think that a genuine thing with someone you appreciate who also appreciates you back and is a good person and a valuable thing. And,, i dont know what to do with all those things. I should precise that i still like him and want to see him i am not doing it just to make him happy
I also had a similar problem with a guy before him but that was a tad easier because the guy had more experience , and i knew it wouldnt sting him too much longterm. But each time i say no to someone who i know is a good person but dont match my standards i get filled with guilt and feel bad. Anyways i dont know what to do with those things, it’s all new and confusing to me. I never thought id say it in my life but male attention is not just the bed and roses part.
Just in general or in this specific situation how would you deal with those type of situations? How do i choose or know if this guy is worth my time and attention instead of finding potentially better? And how to deal with the general fear of breaking someone (who you know cares about you’) s heart? Sorry if this is too long
TL;DR: i grew up forever single and people pleaser now im getting attention and serious relationship interest from men. Some of those like the one in seeing now is more attached than i am, who’s being rational and projecting long term. How do i handle the gap without doing the person dirty?
