Why do they still reach out?

I'll answer my own question: it's completely for them. I've heard about breadcrumbing and I think: "Well not every avoidant is the same". I know that sounds reasonable, but trust me, they kinda are all wired the same. Reason and avoidants are in direct contrast. Don't bite the bait, don't be like me. They betrayed you, remember that if they start throwing old memories your way.
