How to ask my partner for support
I feel so stupid for asking this but due to work, stress, and most definitely my ED, my brain is fried and I feel like I can’t land on answers.
I(27f) have been with my partner (27m) for almost 2 years; I love him so much. He’s so supportive in basically everything I do; I’ve never felt more secure and loved in a relationship before and I really think he’s the one.
He knows about my disorder and he definitely tries to be supportive and helpful. In general he’s not the best with words and such, like he’s definitely the type to see someone upset or crying and be like “there, there” and pat them on the shoulder cause he doesn’t know what to do or say😂
Often I feel the best he can say is that he loves me, thinks I’m beautiful, etc. and I do appreciate those words, but I think I’ve found myself to be dismissive of these things because let’s be honest it’s hard for them to land with a sick brain.
Does anyone have advice on what I can ask or discuss with him in ways he can be a little more helpful or supportive? I know like one thing I’d like to try to mention is that eating anything is difficult for me but I feel less bad or guilty if I’m not eating alone, but I don’t want to ask too much. Also I don’t know what “words of support” would be helpful/if they would even be.
Thanks for reading my rant-question🩶
