Tung oil for handles?

I just received my Hatsukokoru Hayabusa petty knife and bunka, and I would like to protect the handles on these and my wife's Kohetsu santoku with something that will last a while but not make the handles too slick or sticky. Would tung oil be a decent option? If not, what's the go-to for protecting the handles?
