Progressive Coastal California Cities to live?

Hey folks 👋 We’re looking to relocate away from Orange County, CA and hoping to find a coastal California city that checks a few boxes: diverse, inclusive, left-leaning, laid-back, good food, and a mile or so from the beach.

I’ve heard that San Diego offers that, but I haven’t visited there all that much to really know. Anyway, we’re open to other suggestions too. Any cities or towns you’d recommend?
