It's not Hachiko "hate"; it's disappointment, discomfort, sadness, and worry rolled into one

Please do not gaslight the fans who do not take a shine to his new single. Accepting negative feelings is essential to health and supporting each other as we go through it is how we grow as a community 🙏

I feel relieved that we have this platform where some of his fans can express our "unwelcome" feelings towards this new release. Truth be told, what we feel towards the new song is unwanted even by ourselves, because we were actually rooting for it, to the point of even forcing ourselves to like it.

We can't exactly put forward these thoughts on the usual channels for fear of receiving backlash from the rest of the Yes-Go crowd, but moreso, because we don't want to put it out where he could easily see it and possibly hurt his feelings (everybody knows he is actively lurking around his X, Tiktok, Instagram, YT, and FB). Afterall, he's our darling goofball crybaby, and if he's had fun making this, then we love that for him 💕

But I think as fans, it's healthy for us to have these discussions, and not just pay lip service to make it appear that everything's sunshine and daisies, but actually, honestly, this new single is not making us feel any good. Maybe it's because it's not just any new single, but it is actually THE introductory single to his first ever English album which he hopes will open the doors to a wider audience. Given that A LOT is riding on this, some fans can't help but have a sense of foreboding on what is to come 🥶

At the end of the day, all of us here love him, respect his freedom as an artist, and would go out of our way to give him our full support 🤗

Being a fan of his covers since 2017, even before he debuted, you can't really say that we aren't familiar with his quirks and his works. Actually, the fact that we are very much familiar and very much in love with his music is the source of this feeling of being underwhelmed, with a touch of disappointment, discomfort, a hint of sadness, and a little sprinkle of fear on the musical direction he's heading to 😰

I, for one, had this firm belief that Fujii Kaze is one of the rare artists who have a no-skip playlist. So you can just imagine the turmoil I felt when this belief was shattered with the release of this new song 🤧

Just hoping that in the midst of exploring and breaking into a new market, he wouldn't lose himself 🙏

For me, what sets him apart from the rest of the stream is NOT the synths, flashy lights, and designer coats. He doesn't have to be like BTS, Lady Gaga, or Jackson Wang. He doesn't have to prove to anyone that he can do what they can.

He shines the most when he is simply being Fujii Kaze; pouring his quirky self, raw talents, heart and soul into making beautiful music 🥰
