**Title*“Courier's Cross: The Man Who Walked Through Dust and Time ”***
*An ultra-realistic, lore-accurate convergence of* Fallout: New Vegas *and* Red Dead Redemption 2
**Tone**: Hideo Kojima meets Cormac McCarthy—clinical, philosophical, and brutally honest.

### **CHAPTER 1: A Crack in the Divide**

**Location**: *The Divide, Mojave Wasteland — 2284*

The Courier stood over the remnants of Ulysses. Dust blew through the canyon as nuclear storm clouds formed unnatural whirlpools in the sky—*a side effect of what the Think Tank had called “temporal micro-ruptures.”*

The Big Mountain scientists—Doctor Klein, Dala, and the others—warned him: *“Tampering with chronotons and dimensional energy near the Divide might cause ‘temporal-socio-historical misalignments.’”*

But the Courier, burned and rebuilt, had already crossed every known threshold:
He had survived being shot in the head.
He had destroyed and resurrected civilizations.
He had outlived gods in Zion and ghosts in Sierra Madre.

So when the breach opened—light bleeding like oil across the sand—he didn’t hesitate.

### **CHAPTER 2: *1899 – West Elizabeth***

*Arrival. Static in the sky. A man in armor walks out of a storm.*

Dutch van der Linde’s gang had just escaped Blackwater, hiding near Horseshoe Overlook. Strange lights had been seen near Cumberland Forest, and horses bucked in fear as a humming sound followed them through the pines.

One night, Charles Smith caught sight of a man—*not dressed like a soldier, nor a lawman, but humming with unseen power.* He said nothing. He only watched, then vanished.

**The Courier had arrived.**

> "Date unknown. Coordinates unresponsive. Pip-Boy mapping offline. No radiation. Atmospheric reading... Earth. Late 19th century?"

He couldn’t take sides. The **temporal stabilizer chip** in his Pip-Boy warned him:

> “Any act that favors one timeline participant over another risks paradox. Observe. Intervene only to protect causality.”

So he became *a phantom.*

---

### **CHAPTER 3: ALTERATIONS**

The Courier did not stop events—he **adjusted trajectories.** His goal: ensure history flows but avoids collapse. **No sides. Only balance.**

#### Alteration #1: *Micah Bell – Delayed Betrayal*

Micah nearly exposed Dutch in Rhodes months too early. That night, a masked Courier uses a Stealth Boy to slip into his tent. A syringe—**Med-X laced with sedative**—goes into Micah’s neck.

Micah wakes up a day later, dazed. He missed his meeting with the Lemoyne Raiders.

Result: Dutch's spiral into paranoia is **delayed**, buying Arthur time.

> "Observation: Time fracture detected. Micah’s betrayal vector stabilized. Target behavior deviation minimized."

#### Alteration #2: *Arthur’s Tuberculosis*

Canonically, Arthur contracts TB after beating Thomas Downes. The Courier, disguised in frontier clothes, sees the encounter unfold—but does **not** stop it.

Instead, he returns at night and leaves a **sealed vial of Old World Blues Auto-Doc nanites** hidden under Arthur’s cot.

Arthur injects it weeks later, believing it a Snake Oil cure left by Charles.

His TB doesn’t disappear—but slows. **He doesn’t die early.** He starts seeing through Dutch's madness sooner. His final ride is postponed.

---

### **CHAPTER 4: MEETING THE GUNSLINGER**

**Location**: *Grizzlies East. Foggy ridge. Dusk.*

Arthur Morgan rides alone after a tense meeting with Dutch. The sun is red. He sees a man standing in the middle of the trail.

Wearing armor like nothing he's seen. A holstered weapon that looks like steel and lightning. No horse. No hat.

**Arthur**:

> “You lost, friend?”

**Courier**:

> “No. Just misplaced in time.”

They study each other. Arthur’s hand grazes his holster.

**Arthur**:

> “You another bounty hunter?”

**Courier**:

> “Not for you.”

He hands Arthur something wrapped in tarp: **a field journal**. Pages filled with predictions—Micah’s betrayal. Dutch’s delusions. John Marston’s future. The fall of the gang.

**Arthur (reading):**

> “How the hell do you know all this?”

**Courier** (monotone):

> “Because it already happened.”

They don't fight. Arthur looks into his eyes and sees something **beyond war, beyond frontier violence**—a man hollowed by choices, surviving only because he's too good at it.

---

### **CHAPTER 5: ALTERATION #3 — BLACKWATER'S UNSEEN MOMENT**

**The Courier infiltrates the ferry.**

Using stealth tech, he sabotages the Pinkerton’s plan to ambush the gang during the Blackwater robbery. He doesn’t stop the robbery—but prevents civilians from dying.

This subtly alters the timeline:

* Dutch still snaps—but it’s from greed, not trauma.
* Hosea lives **two months longer**, allowing him to write a letter to Abigail warning her to flee.

The Courier maintains the paradox: history stays roughly on track—but key pain points are **dulled**.

---

### **CHAPTER 6: UNTOUCHABLES**

There are things even he can’t fix:

* **Lenny’s death**: inevitable.
* **Sadie’s pain**: hard-coded into her path.
* **Dutch’s descent**: tied to ego and not just trauma.
* **Arthur’s mortality**: slowed, not erased.

He visits Abigail one night. She wakes to find a box with **caps, a Pip-Boy, and a holotape**. She keeps the tape her whole life, never playing it.

---

### **CHAPTER 7: THE FINAL SCENE — VANTAGE POINT**

Years later, in 1907, John Marston stands on the hill watching his ranch take shape. He hears thunder behind him. A storm with no clouds.

Up on the cliff stands a figure. Armor glinting. Same man Arthur described in his journal.

John raises his hand. The Courier doesn’t wave. He simply turns and walks over the ridge—and vanishes.

---

### **EPILOGUE: THE WASTELAND WAITS**

Back in the Mojave, the rift closes. The Courier’s Pip-Boy syncs to 2284.

He survived the past without altering fate. But something inside him—something about *Arthur*—lingers.

> “That world was cruel... but honest.”

He looks toward Vegas, torn between NCR expansion and Brotherhood remnants. Another war brews.

He reloads his Anti-Materiel Rifle.

> “Time to go back to work.”

### **THEMES AND REALISM**

* **Courier’s Tech**: Plausible time-travel via Big MT temporal instability.
* **Neutral Alignment**: True to Wild Card/Wild Wasteland ending—he’s the agent of balance, not loyalty.
* **Arthur’s Intelligence**: Realistically cautious; doesn’t immediately shoot the Courier.
* **Historical Fidelity**: All Red Dead events remain **within canon**, but the Courier creates subtle divergences that ripple quietly without collapsing the world.
* **Philosophy**: Echoes *Fallout’s*
