Socializing Problems

General Question/Discussion

I've noticed something as if recently. I don't know if this rejection sensitivity or something else.

Let me explain.

I have noticed that when with my family when I join a conversation, suddenly the entire conversation comes to a screeching halt. Suddenly everything feels awkward.

I wondered if I was missing a social cue, so I started to make double sure before I joined a conversation that I actually had something protective or something to contribute to the conversation but it still happens.

It's like when a kid tries to join an "adult" conversation but I'm 25 years old.

It sometimes happens when I say something to my dad and his wife and they just... ignore me.

I'm now dwelling over every single social interaction I do to try and see what I'm doing wrong.

Am I self sabotaging or something? Am I overthinking this?

Just wanted to add really quick here, I do having a learning disability along side my ADHD. Sometimes I've missed social cues and in the past I would end up talking much too loudly out of excitement. But I've really really worked on that so I don't do it.

I'm just tired of spending entire family gatherings surrounded by people and nobody talking to me or being able to join into conversations...
