Traveling late October to early November

Hi all - I need help for accommodation recommendation for safety and convenience to explore the area more. Also cheap places. Where should I look? What websites are safe? I don’t trust Airbnb tbh because of horror stories I heard (not in Italy) but in general.

Planned arrival and staying in Rome 10/28-10/31 Train ride to Florence 10/31-11/3 (plan to do a day trip to Pisa) Train ride to cinque terre (11/3-11/6) Train to Milan for departure from LIN (11/6-11/7)
