Im uncomfortable about the female friend of my boyfriend (24)

He and I met about a year ago and dated for six months. When we met, one of the first things I learned about him was that he had a best friend we'd known each other for years. I was fine with that at first.

  1. Within the first few months of knowing each other, when he was already planning to ask me to be his girlfriend, I occasionally asked him to go out, but he turned me down with the excuse that he was going out with her.

  2. On his Instagram, more than half of the posts were photos with her. He had a highlights section dedicated just to her, and he also mentioned her in his bio.

  3. She was present on all his social media accounts, FB, TikTok, and Instagram.

  4. He would see her at church every Wednesday and Sunday.

  5. She would throw tantrums at him, and he would throw tantrums at her.

  6. When she got angry, he would run after her to fix things.

  7. He always expressed great love and pride for her.

  8. He held a lot of resentment toward a boy he believed had done something wrong to his friend.

  9. He had her fingerprint registered so he could unlock her cell phone.

During the first month of our relationship, I tried to see it as normal, but it made me feel so insecure, so I tried to end it. He promised to change, and so I decided to stay with him.

After that fight, he deleted her from his Instagram (stories, posts, bio, and followers and followers), from his Facebook friends, and only deleted the most recent videos he had with her on TikTok. He also stopped talking to her.

We continued our relationship. He started putting me first, to the point of seeing us every day and spending a lot of time together. He treated me with so many sweet gestures, that's why I can't doubt the love he feels for me.

But he never wanted to post a photo with me. He only posted me on his WhatsApp stories the times I asked, because he told me that "couples who post photos together are the worst."

It wasn't until I expressed my insecurity about his cell phone ID that he said he was going to do it with me too, but I rejected him.

After that, I would occasionally ask for his phone to take photos or notes, and he would make excuses for me not to.

What I'm trying to say with this is that even though he did the right thing by distancing himself from her, it makes me very uncomfortable knowing that she had many privileges that I never had as his girlfriend.

Even though he don't talk to her anymore and now it's just him and me, I can't help but think that I will never be as important to him as his friend was. This feeling persists even though he is an attentive, loving, thoughtful, faithful boyfriend and has made me his priority.

TL;DR - My boyfriend gave a lot of privileges and importance to his best friend. Although he distanced himself from her when I asked him to, I feel like I'm not that important to him, even though he's started being very attentive to me.

I feel like I haven't been able to overcome this feeling, although I still want to continue my relationship with him.
