Brakes Question, did I really need to replace my calipers?

My front brakes both only wore down the inside brake pad, the outside pad was only maybe 70% worn. I was told this indicates a problem with the caliper so I replaced both front calipers. I suspect the slide pins were not lubed during my last brake job. The shop that did my last brake job was later found out to be scammers, I have no doubt they would have taken a short cut on my brakes and not lubed the slide pins. Anyway… my question is did I really need to replace the front calipers or would I have likely been ok just pulling the seized caliper slide pins and properly lubricating them?
