I don’t know if this is common or if there’s like specific help for this
Content warning is just a brief mention, this is more of a question and needing advice!
So a little context. I was working a job on the opposite side of the country from where I grew up, really enjoyed it, but got fired (it was my own fault, nothing was intentional but intent doesn’t really matter when you make people uncomfortable) and ended up in the hospital on suicide watch. That all happened on Monday I think, days are hard. I flew back home Thursday and have been home for a couple days now. Still feeling a lot of empty and guilt/shame but I have an appointment with my therapist on Wednesday. The reason I’m posting is cause I lost my voice.
Since I went into the hospital I haven’t been able to talk above a whisper. While I was in the hospital I could barely talk at all but I’ve been out for a while and while the like physical kinda feeling of being scared and edge of tears has gone away I still can’t bring myself above a whisper. No matter how hard I try I always get caught up before I can. It hasn’t affected me much, honestly talking less has been nice but it’s apparently getting on everyone else’s nerves that I’m only whisper. I know it’s a mental block and I’m trying to fix it but my mom is starting to get upset with me about it, plus that I can barely get out of bed. She’s trying her best with my mental health but I don’t wanna be a nuisance or a problem. Any helpful advice would be appreciated about how to get my voice back. There’s no pain it’s just a mental block.
