Autistic BF says he loves his special interest more than he loves me.

🫶🏻 Relationships

I can't help but feel heartbroken ever since my boyfriend, who has autism, told me he loves a card game (special interest) "more than he loves me", as a response to my "I love you". I'm diagnosed autistic too FYI, I also have various interests but never would I ever think to compare one to a person.

Tonight I just wanted to express my honest thoughts to him. On multiple occasions, he's said that "I love him more than he loves me" and "you can't force me to love you more, do you want me to lie to you ?". When I tell him "I love you", he lately only responds with "I know". I told him I often feel as if he doesn't have any interest to express his love towards me... it wasn't always like this, in the beginning of our relationship he was so in love with me and showed it all the time. He explained to me that a relationship "starts at 100 miles an hour and calms down over time"... we've been together for only a year.

Nowadays, it's always his card game he talks about, which I don't mind except when he uses it to quantify the love he has for me. He got mad at me telling him that I feel like he's disinterested and he responded with "You should be grateful I came over at your place a couple days ago, I could've played (card game) during that time period." After I got visibly upset at him telling me once more he prefers his card game over me, he said "Come on, it's not like I said I prefer another woman over you."

He's sleeping now. I'm just feeling confused and sad.
