Difference between EA and teaching?
Hello! I am an education assistant (additional needs & mainstream) for secondary and primary schooling, and while I love my job, I've had thoughts on moving on to studying and pursuing teaching. I am however hesitant because I have heard both very good and very bad things about being a teacher, such as working a lot of unpaid hours outside of the classroom, being overwhelmed, it being a thankless job, etc.
What I wanted to ask was, what is it like being a teacher, the good and the bad? And what are some of the key differences between teaching and being an EA?
I had been thinking of going into teaching visual arts for secondary schooling specifically, but am unsure if teaching is what I would enjoy, so I would like to know the full scope of what being a teacher actually encapsulates, both the good and the bad from actual teachers, to make a more informed decision. Thank you!!
