Tamron SP 70-150mm F2.8 51A soft-focus lens back to life on my Sony A9
This is a soft-focus lens made by Tamron — quite rare to see on the market these days.I found it while digging through my dad’s dry cabinet.
Originally it came with an MD mount, but since I don’t have a matching film body, I 3D-printed a custom adapter to mount it onto my Sony A9. I used it in full manual mode, and after being unused for over 20 years, the lens finally saw the light of day again.
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day in Taipei, so I took just one camera and one lens out for a casual photo walk — letting this vintage glass breathe a bit.
As many others have shared online, this lens is impressively sharp with the soft-focus disabled, but it offers a unique and dreamy character when soft-focus is enabled.
Anyone else have this lens? Would love to hear your thoughts
