Diabetes Control

Type 1

Hey Guys,

First Reddit post after being a long time reader. I’m a Dad to a 9 year old girl who was diagnosed two years ago with T1. We’re on a Medtronic pump and a G6 Dexcom sensor - bit meh with both if I’m honest but that’s not the purpose of my post.

I see a lot of posts about people not taking their diabetes seriously or hitting diabetic burnout and the associated health risks that come with that. What I don’t understand though is what are the thresholds for uncontrolled or poorly controlled diabetes leading to health issues. As an example, my daughter has had a week of above 13 BGL due to a virus peaking at 26 BGL and a trip to the hospital at 0.8 ketones. Is this enough in isolation to cause issues around feet, eyes, etc? Or are we looking at multiple instances of this to be deemed uncontrolled?

Sorry for the stream of consciousness post - a bit broken on one hour’s sleep on a chair in the ED!! Any guidance is much appreciated.
