Just got jumped by 6 bloodsuckers

I was on my way from the Brain Scorcher to Chemical Plant when I heard a bloodsucker scream. I usually have no problem taking them down with my saiga up until now, but then I remembered a few guides saying you can just run away and conserve the ammo since they don't drop anything, so I tried it. Needless to say, after downing 5 energy drinks and 500 meter later, 2 of them are still on my tail.

Then, the game just decided to spawn 2 more of them .. and another 2 then next 100 meter near the Malachite Checkpoint. I took 3 of them down, but I ran out of all 10 of my medkits. Healing with bandages just isn't fast enough. I ended up dying and losing 10 medkits, 40ish shotgun shells, 9 energy drinks, and 7 bandages.
