Meditating and speaking to child me
Wanted to get feedback on this.
This can be potentially triggering so I wanted to warn. I was sexually abused and exposed to sexual violence as a very young child aged 3-12 by a multitude of adults. I have been repressing a lot of memories until recently as my physical issues have been holding the trauma and my mind (via therapy) has finally been able to catch up and feels safe enough to expose memories (i’ve dissociated a lot)
i’ve done a lot of work in therapy with accepting and forgiving and having that be a part of my healing journey.
My therapist and pelvic floor therapist both suggested I meditate and spend time with my child self in meditation and help her heal. Listen to her, re parent her and provide a safe space for her so I can begin the process of healing internally the repressed emotions.
I’m a little afraid of this as I don’t know if it is “safe” to do this from a spiritual perspective but feel like I desperately need to be there for my younger self to help heal. Any advice? The guided meditations are basically finding a safe space, ushering her in, sitting with her and telling her she was not bad or wrong and going from there.
