Reherniation or Rebound Pain?

I had endoscopic spine surgery to remove a large calcified disc in my thoracic spine a week and a half ago. I had very little (but some) nerve pain initially, and about a week later I suddenly felt pain in the middle of the night after I stretched in my sleep and my nerve pain has gotten worse ever since. My doctor prescribed a steroid pack but is hesitant to order an MRI since it's so early in the recovery process. I'm freaking out that I reherniated, though I'm praying this is normal post surgery nerve pain. Did anyone else have pain that flared up a week after surgery and then subsided? Does this trajectory seem out of the ordinary?
