Struggling with Reaper’s Gale

SpoilerSPOILERS RG

I really love this series and loved the fact that each book was better than the previous instalment in the series. But Reaper’s Gale is really testing my patience.

I loved Midnight Tides and was enthralled to see that this book began where the former ended - Tehol and Bugg were back, as were other interesting characters like Icarium, Fear, Trull, Udinaas. I read the initial chapters with rapt attention.

And then the plot starts meandering. Unlike the earlier books, I don’t find the conversations interesting, or the endless walking of Seren Pradan and gang to add anything to the story or the character arcs. Tehol and Bugg aren’t to be seen for the last few hundred pages. Redmask’s story started promisingly, but has now slid off to some sub-plot involving “Shakes” and their new queen .

It’s starting to become a drag, and I can’t believe I’m saying this about a favourite book series of mine. Is it worth ‘soldiering on’ to the end? I am 50% in according to Kindle.
