Urgent: VPN Client Feature Not Working on Deco X10 - Stuck on "Connecting" or no VPN connection at all.
Dear TP-Link Support Team,
I am writing to report a persistent and critical issue with the VPN Client feature on my TP-Link Deco X10 router. The feature is completely non-functional.
Product Details:
- Model: Deco X10
- Hardware/Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20250306 Rel. 40376
Problem Description:
I have been trying to use the built-in VPN Client functionality to connect my network to a third-party VPN service using OpenVPN configuration files. However, it fails to connect properly.
Here is a summary of the issue:
- When I upload a valid OpenVPN (
.ovpn) configuration file and attempt to connect, the status in the Deco app remains stuck on "Connecting..." indefinitely. It never establishes a successful connection. - If I manually restart the entire Deco system, the VPN Client status sometimes changes to "Connected" in the app after the reboot.
- Despite the "Connected" status, the VPN is not actually working. My public IP address does not change, and online IP-checking tools confirm that my traffic is not being routed through the VPN server. The connection is not active in reality.
Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:
- I have tested this with multiple different
.ovpnconfiguration files from various reputable VPN providers. All of these configuration files work perfectly on other devices (like my laptop and phone), so I am certain the issue is with the Deco router itself. - I have rebooted the Deco system multiple times.
- I have removed and re-added the VPN profiles.
The issue remains the same regardless of the OpenVPN configuration used. The Deco X10 seems unable to properly establish or maintain a connection via the VPN Client feature.
Could you please assist me in resolving this? Is this a known issue with the current firmware for the Deco X10? Is there a fix, a beta firmware, or a workaround available? The VPN Client was a key feature for my use case, and it's disappointing that it's not functional.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
