I charge 20x more than my competitors and people still choose us

General

What I have seen from the most business owners that are starting out is they find something that works, copy it, and sell it cheaper. I see it every single day. It’s a race to the bottom that no one wins (including clients). People think price is the ultimate differentiator but it’s the worst one you can choose.

The harsh truth is if your service isn’t reliable, I’m not using it. It doesn’t matter if it’s 90% cheaper than the alternative. If it doesn't solve my problem, any price above $0 is too expensive for me. This is exactly why so many early-stage founders are getting crushed by churn. Their customers sign up for the cheap price and are gone in a month because they got exactly what they paid for, nothing of real value. Your problem isn't "finding more leads." It's your leaky bucket.

Think about any service industry like landscaping, marketing, cleaning. There’s always someone on Facebook Marketplace or Fiverr willing to do it for dirt cheap. They get the job, do a mediocre-to-bad job, and the client is left frustrated, never to hire them again. The provider just moves on to the next person they can snag with a low price.

When I started my business, we did the exact opposite. Instead of creating a cheap, basic package that would attract bargain-hunters, we focused on building a premium, hands-on service that delivers real, tangible results for our clients. When our competitors charge $20 for the same service, we were charging anywhere from $300 to $1,200 a month.

Lowering your price should never be your first move. It just signals desperation and attracts the worst kind of customers. Instead of creating a cheap service you have to constantly push on people, focus on building an amazing service that people are happy to pay a premium for. Your best marketing will always be a happy customer who got more than they paid for.
