Whats the story with the Kmart on patton

I was curious if there was a story with that k mart location being in the state it's in now. I had a similar location in my hometown back in wilmington. we always joked it was secretly being used to hold military or police equipment. But i'm pretty sure the truth is it's owned by a company in CLT and the price they want is unreasonable for the building and they do nothing to maintain it. Is it the same kinda deal? any local myths?
