Budgeting seriously for the first time

Previous post about my financial situation got plenty of reactions from many of you, I’ve had the chance to sit back and take an honest look at my spending habits and this is the budget I’ve come to,

  • Monthly Salary - £2,688 (4x5 day weeks) Weekends available

Outgoings ( Monthly Bills )

  • Car Payment - £383 Monthly, 50 payments remaining, plan is to make monthly payment plus £120 extra per month, worked out via online calculator and it saves me £1250 in total and takes me to 37 payments instead of 50
  • Car tax - £26 Monthly
  • Car insurance - £120 currently but last payment is this month, new quote is £65 Monthly
  • iPhone - £45 Monthly 11 Payments remaining
  • EE Contract - £36.50 Monthly 11 Payments Remaining
  • Gym membership - £35 Monthly, Rolling Contract - Spotify - £12 Monthly • Investments - £400 Monthly • Emergency Fund - £200 Monthly

Total - £1322.50 Based on new insurance price and extra car payments

I’ve budgeted for my other spends through the month and have the following,

  • Fuel - £130- £160 Monthly
  • Groceries - £200 Monthly
  • Hobbies - £100 Monthly ( previous post included my foolish gambling, and upon reviewing the last couple of months, I was spending more than I thought, I enjoy playing snooker so instead of gambling I can get down to the snooker club for 4-5 hours on a weekend for a fraction of the price)

I don’t have a mortgage as I live at home, groceries include evening meals and work food as I prep for the week

Honest opinions good or bad are appreciated as it’s my first time seriously planning some sort of budget and I may have missed some categories but as of this post I can’t see anything else that I’ve missed
