Re: "The Perception of Women on j ai is crazyy..(..interesting)
Since the post got taken down for not cencoring usernames (I am so sorry mod Team i overlooked that in the rules or smthš®āšØ) i wanted to say something about it one last time. Or rather all the comments. Many agreed with me. Some critiqued my point (and rightfully s But many also seemed a bit "offended" and said i was "demonizing" mens tastes. So here is my answer (and also what do you guys think about that?):
I didnāt say or mean that one type of bot is inherently ābetterā than the other(objectively at least since taste is very personal. I personally prefer one kind and thats fine. Others prefer others and I therefore cannot make any point that says one is FOR EVERYONE, ALWAYS better), or that menās/just people who like those bots (just saying men cuz many in the comments did) preferences are bad. I shared two screenshots showing clear stylistic and thematic differences between two trending pagesāone from the wlw category and one from a more general or male-targeted bot page. I also just showed the TRENDING page meaning i am sure that there are WONDEFUL, PERSONALITY AND STORY HEAVY ANYPOV/MALEPOV FEMALE BOTS TOO! I just showcased the trends nothing more.
What stood out to me was how differently femininity is presented based on the presumed audienceāmore narrative-driven and nuanced in one, more sexualized in the other. Thatās not a judgment of individual preferences, just an observation of design and trends.
If anything, the fact that this pattern exists says something interesting about how different kinds of desire are represented and consumedānot that one is wrong, but that they are not treated the same. (And as i mentioned before i am referring to the general trends I am well aware that there are also inherently sexual wlw bots and plot heavy non-wlw bots!??!)
!! If people assumed I was saying āthis proves women are betterā or āmen are trash,ā thatās not in the post. And I think the fact that some folks jumped to that conclusion kind of proves the larger point: we expect these portrayals and reflexively defend them, even when no one said theyāre bad. Thatās worth thinking about. !!
