What if… The Reality War's Omega wasn't Omega?

Just sort of thinking out loud here but given the version of Omega that we saw in The Reality War has gone down about as well as a bag of sick (I think this is a fairly universal judgement - whether you enjoyed the episode/story arc as a whole or not, Omega's presentation doesn't seem to have been well received), what if it wasn't Omega at all?

Maybe the Rani's experiment failed, and instead of dredging up Omega from the Underverse, it was just something clawing its way up because it say an opportunity. Maybe it was an as-yet unseen member of the Pantheon, which would fit better with the overall arc of the RTD2 era. Maybe it was Desiderium's infant brain nightmare made real.

Whether by retcon or revelation, this feels like an easy bit of lore to correct in future, and create an opening to reintroduce a more interesting, updated take on Omega.
