Camping
So me and my boyfriend are going camping with his family in September. It’s in the outer banks in North Carolina. We tent camp, we do not own a camper. That being said, I’m torn on whether or not I want to bring our dog. By the time we go she’ll be a year old. She has a crate but we’ve never really made her go in it because we’ve never needed to per se. we also have one of those leads you use to put your dogs outside with if you don’t have a fenced in yard (we’ve never kept our dogs outside we’ve only used the leads to put them out to the bathroom). I would love to take her because I can’t fathom a whole week without her, but I have a lot of anxiety (which I know is a me thing because I’m a very anxious person) and in my head I’m thinking of every worst case scenario. The island we go to is VERY dog friendly but you have to take a ferry to get there and pets can’t be loose on the ferry they have to remain in your vehicle. The only places we really wouldn’t be able to take her is in restaurants so she wouldn’t be at the camp ground long. I just have anxiety about leaving here there while we eat. I can’t keep her in the tent as she wouldn’t chew a hole in it, she’s still in her chewing phase. If anyone has any advice or has taken their dog camping like this before I would greatly appreciate it. She needs more leash training for sure but we’re working on that. I would also like to mention that she is deaf, so her situational awareness isn’t the best. If anyone has tips on camping with a special needs dog please send them my way! I really wanna take her with me but we’ve never done anything like this with her so I’m just nervous.
