Just diagnosed three days ago

Hi everyone! I'm a 25F. I don't normally post on reddit but have been really anxious about this and worried about the next steps, and I feel this urge to constantly talk about, which may not be a good thing. But I've been reading some other posts here that have been nice to read and get more info so I thought I'd make a post.

My nodule is basically at 3.3 cm which is why they decided to biopsy it - they said the size was unusual. On the 19th I got the notice that it was positive for papillary thyroid cancer, which I know is one of the good ones. But I still feel really scared and worried. I'm even more nervous because I know so little - like what stage it is and how long the next steps are going to take. When my doctor called me with the news he basically just told me he was making a referral to oncology for staging and to ENT for the surgery and that I should get a call from them between one to two weeks. Thats a lot of time to wait with little information though it seems. I was thinking I'd try to figure who exactly I'm being referred to tomorrow so that I can research them a bit at least.

There's just so many unknowns right now. And I just started this technical school last month that will last a year, and if I take off too much time from it for like surgery recovery or medical appointments (I think a week off would be fine), there's a chance they won't let me graduate.

Basically I'm scared, and I don't know what to do with this feeling. It does feel lonely, despite talking to family and my husband a bit about it. And I'm upset. Like, I've had so much other stuff go on. And I think the waiting to get more information, or even just to get a call to set up the next appointment to get more information, is going to suck.

Anyways, I just wanted to post this. I don't know if thinking about it more is going to help haha, but it is nice to read the other posts. I wish everyone going through this the best.

Thank you
